Hu, Leite Named Outstanding Engineer and Scientist of the Year (VIDEO) University of Maryland assistant professors Liangbing Hu and Marina Leite were named Maryland Outstanding Young Engineer and Maryland Outstanding Young Scientist in the academic sector, respectively, by the Maryland Science Center. First Genetic-Based Tool to Detect Circulating Cancer Cells in Blood

Researcher elected to Australian Academy of Science Council
A University of Queensland researcher’s respected career designing unmanned aerial vehicles based on biologically inspired systems has seen him elected onto the Australian Academy of Science Council. Nimbis Demos WorkFlow-as-a-Service for Semiconductor Design
Nimbis Services Inc. conducted a live demonstration at GOMACTech ’12 of a semiconductor design-to-release-manufacturing cloud computing WorkFlow-as-a-Service (WFaaS) portal, the Trusted Silicon Stratus Demonstration Cloud (TSS-DC). Nimbis Services under contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) implemented the TSS-DC as the first virtualized computing cloud for chip design using the open source OpenStack cloud computing middleware and Cisco Systems’ Unified Computing System (UCS).

$24.9 Million Funding Available for Sensor Innovative Research
The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory has announced that it expects to award a maximum of 25 cooperative agreement grants for research in areas of antenna technology, opto-electronic technology, electromagnetic scattering and infrared sensor technology.
